MiniMoves, Inc. has partnered with Move for Hunger to deliver over 2,600 pounds of essential groceries this month to communities facing food insecurity. Since 2014, MiniMoves® has helped to deliver over 19,000 lbs. and provided 18,069 meals of food to help feed neighbors in need.
“We were happy that we could coordinate these donations and transport to a local hunger relief agency. So far this year, MiniMoves has helped provide 2993 meals,” said John Alianello, President & COO at MiniMoves, Inc. “We look forward to seeing the impact with the rest of the fresh food deliveries will make on our hungry communities!”
The Move for Hunger Fresh Food Program was first launched in October of 2021 and has proven to be one of their fastest-growing programs with their first year providing over 700,000 pounds of fresh food in just a few short months. Moving companies around the country helped Move for Hunger deliver over 1.8 million pounds to the communities who needed it most in 2022. In the first half of 2023, the organization has surpassed last year’s total at more than 2.7 million pounds of fresh food. With a short shelf life, picking up and quickly delivering these perishables to food pantries and community kitchens helps get these nutritious fresh foods to families across America.
Move For Hunger was founded with one idea in mind – donate the food in your pantry when you move – and has since expanded from one family moving company to a network of 1,200 moving company partners, many of the world’s leading relocation management companies, and more than 2,500 multifamily apartment communities nationwide. They all work together to put Move for Hunger’s mission into action.
Providing fresh food to hungry communities has also been a key aspect of the organization. However, since the launch of the fresh food program in 2021, it has become an integral part of the mission. So far in 2023, the organization has already surpassed last year’s total (1.8 million lbs.) at more than 2.1 million pounds of fresh food.
